The Pittsburgh Water Polo Club is looking for a passionate, high energy leader to fill the position of Head Coach for its year around age group programs.

The club is a five-year-old, USA Water Polo Club located in the northern suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Membership spans all age groups and has grown in each of the last five years. It includes a very supportive base of parents and the club already has a track record of developing some of the Northeast Zone’s top water polo athletes.

The club is seeking a coach with a playing background and coaching experience. Equally important is a strong passion for being a coach and a demonstrated personality to lead and motivate young athletes to strive for excellence. Candidates with backgrounds that include time within respected, mature water polo programs and work with/under seasoned coaches will be given strong consideration.
Primary skills and qualifications for this position include:

  • Playing experience at the high school and collegiate levels
  • At least three years of previous coaching experience, with some experience coaching within age group programs
  • Demonstrated understanding of the unique dynamics of youth sports programs
  • Ability to collaborate with the local swimming community in order to balance the aquatic interests, pursuits and development of athletes
  • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written necessary for regular communication to athletes and parents
  • Demonstrated coaching philosophy as it relates to athlete development and system of play
  • Planning and organization skills as exhibited by training plans, practice plans and membership development programs
  • Clear passion for coaching and developing athletes across various age and ability levels.
