March Baller of the Month

Congratulations to our newest baby daddy, Grant Kelly!

Thank you, Grant, for making such a splash with our team. From the beginning Grant has brought us lots of laughs, leadership, and good times. Never change!

Here's a bit about Grant Jelly.
One time he signed up for a tournament as Grant Jelly.

Name: Grant Kelly
Years playing polo: 15 … I think?

Years w/CWPC: Four year.. for sure.
Favorite tournament: Masters Nationals or the Quarry, I don’t know I like them all.
Favorite CWPC memory: Chicago weekend, November 2015. 87,000 stories from one weekend.
Favorite post practice snack & beverage: A water for hydration then about six Budweiser’s and some fries will do the trick.
Favorite bar in Cleveland?: Merry Arts.
Favorite men's suit: Columbus In N Out Suit

Best Kasi Quote: “As far as i’m concerned Popeyes is the only place that sells Fried Chicken”
How did you find CWPC?: When I found out I was moving to Cleveland I just googled Cleveland water polo and I showed up my first day in town.

Trish recalls Grant’s first day: “I remember some very bro looking bro out on deck just chatting away with some people and I thought to myself, oh great some Cali jerk is here to tell us how cool water polo is out west. Instead we got this goon of a guy who has brought a tremendous amount of talent and life to our team.”

Do you remember your first week of practice?:
All I remember from my first week was Wade telling Vince and I he watched Taylor swift music videos on mute.
Nice pass, Grant
Favorite polo position to play? Where ever I can shoot from the most, everything else is second to that.
Favorite drill? Scrimmages.
Favorite part about water polo in general? How personal and aggressive it is, you always get your chance to make someone look dumb.
How many years have you been in the Coast Guard? Seven years of being a hero.
Tell us about your family: My family is pretty rad, my wife Ashley is super hot and also plays water polo and we just had our first minion Maverick on 3/23/19.  He can already swim and should be playing in our next tournament!

After finding out he was going to be a father, Grant said, “Nice shot, Grant.” – Ashley was not amused.

Words of advice: Never turn down an opportunity to play water polo.
Who is the most improved player you have met on CWPC? Josh, he went from being awful to just pretty bad. just kidding, Josh is the shit and is by far our most improved player.

Life motto: In N Out or Death.
